Indigenous Use: The Paiute and Shoshone made peppermint tea to treat gas pains.
Other Uses: Monominee treated pneumonia combining catnip with peppermint in a tea. Inhaling the steam of peppermint being boiled helped relieve colds, congested lungs and blocked sinuses.
Preparation: Make tea by pouring one cup of hot water over two teaspoons of peppermint leaves. Steep for fifteen minutes and strain. Drink up to two cups a day. You can also make tea by adding small amounts of hot water and drinking, then adding more water and drinking. Do this four to five times.
