Indigenous Use:Licorice has been used for thousands of years to treat bronchial and respiratory problems.
Other Uses: It is also effective in treating stomach and gastrointestinal problems. Many tribes chewed the root for its sweetness.
Preparation: Make tea by pouring one cup of hot water over one teaspoon of licorice root. Steep for fifteen minutes, cool and strain.
Availability: Found in prairies and fields, central and western U.S. Common (Herbal Supplier). Substitute Licorice — Glycyrrhiza glabra.
