Medicine: Wood Strawberry (Fragaria vesca)

Indigenous Use: Root tea used for stomach ailments by Ojibwa and Potawatomi. Fruit also eaten for soothing the stomach.
Other Uses: Strawberry tea was used for kidney problems and rheumatoid arthritis. Root used as a chewing stick for cleaning teeth.
Preparation: Make tea by pouring one cup of boiling water over two tablespoons of strawberry leaves. Steep for thirty minutes, cool and strain. Take as required. For root tea boil for twenty minutes.
