Indigenous Use: The Iroquois drank goldenseal root infusions and decoctions to treat fevers and pneumonia; whereas, some tribes used goldenseal to fight tuberculosis.
Other Uses: It has also been used to treat eye and skin problems, as well as earaches.
Preparation: For making tea, pour two cups of boiling water over one teaspoon of dried and powdered goldenseal root. Steep for ten minutes and strain. Take two teaspoons at a time, up to one cup a day but not for more than one week. People with high blood pressure or pregnant mothers should not use it.
