Indigenous Use: Highly valued root tea taken for heartburn, indigestion and gas.
Other Uses: Also used for colds, coughs and heart conditions. Ginger substitute.
Preparation: Add one teaspoon of dried root to two cups of water. Boil for twenty minutes, strain and cool.
Availability: Found in rich woods in many part of North America. Substitute Ginger, which is readily available from an herbal supplier.
