The relationship between a shaman and an apprentice is unique—it lasts a lifetime. Even after the mentor goes to the spirit world, the relationship continues. In this way, the apprentice stays connected to a linage of Ancestors. The sum power and knowledge of the Ancestors passes from one generation to the next. This is not static knowledge; each generation contributes more to it.
