Going brings return.
The elders do not go anywhere;
return comes to them.

The law of cause and effect, applied to social systems, also relates to the Native American concept of returning cycles. The experience of the elders has taught them two important lessons:

• By staying in the same place, everything returns eventually, such as the cycle of day and night, or the seasons.
• By sitting in the center of a circle, one can go everywhere without going anywhere, such as in a dream or a vision.
